Well after 3 months of not posting to this blog, I have decided to abandon it. I have started a new blog, Rejected 365 Photos. I have been devoting all of my free time to photography lately.

This blog is a little to random, and I want to focus on my photography and showing the photos that didn't quite make it as the #1 photo for the day.

Holy November, has it been that long??? I have taken a much longer hiatus than I thought I did! Well folks I have some great news, a music video that I worked on with Greg is finally up on YouTube so I can now post some art work that I've been wanting to for at least 7 months now!

Velveteen Vulture

Today I made a fantastic stuffed vulture doll:

He stands about 9 inches tall and is made of velvet, upholstery fabric, and felt. I made him for my alphabet project that I'm working on at the 365 Project. I know Minnie liked him a lot!

Lately I've been working on this photo project using letters of the alphabet. Today was "I is for Icebox Igloo." I made this cute little eskimo and penguins out of sculpy and painted them with acrylics. If you want to see the rest of my project photos, click on the "photos" link above.

Keep Walking

Today Greg and I drove by Disney Studios in Burbank... and like silly fools got out to take pictures. I hope that one day I'll get to go there on "offical business," rather than acting like a couple of turds, taking pictures of the entrance. This was my favorite picture that I took during our adventure.

I did a little photography experiment. I started out with this photo to the left of my mouse and mouse pad. Then I used the macro focus setting on my camera to take a close up picture of the digital photo on my computer screen. Then I took a close up picture of the close up picture, and so on. Below are the different close up pictures I took, almost in succession.

Lego Mania

I've spent the past few days sorting through my big box of Lego's. I'm working on making a color wheel poster for my classroom when I finally land that art teacher job. Of course this poster will all be made out of pictures of Lego's. Since I had all these Lego's out, I had to build something! So these pictures have come from that adventure.

I started to do this photo project on 365 Project where for a year I will take one picture a day. This is my picture from today. I've been making more woven beads, and here they are. The multi-color one is a bunch of antique beads that my grandma gave me. It's really pretty.

Bee Loom, Ego and the youtube

I've been really interested in doing some bead loom weaving. My collection of seed beads have been growing in addition to the recent donation to it from my grandma. So this is my first attempt at it. I call it Bee Loom!

I recently was feeding my ego a bit and googling my name. I came across a website called The Big Cartoon DataBase (I guess it's like IMDB for cartoons), and I found that two of my films are on it! Check it out!

Thunder Storm

I couldn't help it, I had to make one more text photocollage. A couple of weeks ago, there was a crazy lightning storm that rolled through. The picture is one of them that I took of the clouds that day.

While I was researching for a project I'm working on, I found this awesome website called Wordle that makes word clouds. I was so fascinated by it, that I started putting in all kinds of text to make different word patterns. Of course I was using Pink Floyd song lyrics, hence this fantastic image. If you are a Floydhead like I am, I uploaded this big enough so you can set it as your desktop (if you are so inclined.... ).

This evening I finally charged my camera batteries that died at Christmas. I realized that I had a wide range of photos that I had taken between November and December of last year, 2008. I decided to make a little photo collage of them. The locations of these pictures are, the Griffith Park Observatory, Long Beach, Moreno Valley, up the 5 freeway (the Grapevine), and Palmdale (all in California).

I have discovered, (or actually rediscovered, since I used to play with these a lot when I was a kid) Kaleidocycles! I'm so fascinated with them that I have decided to share them with you. Behold a plethora of kaleidocycle possibilities.

To the left is the Kaleidomonster, he was made from the kaleidocycle that I want to share with you. If you would like to make my kaleidocycle click here. Just print it out, cut and fold. Click here if you want detailed instructions on how put it together.

This website is incredible, you can upload your own pictures to make a fantastic kaleidocycle! I highly recommend you go to it. To the right is a template for one I made with my designy drawings.

Hadley's Farms

On Veteran's Day, my mom and I went to Morongo Casino in Cabazon, Ca. What a better way to celebrate all the sacrifices that our brave soldiers have done for our country, than to waste money at an Indian casino in the middle of the desert?

....By the way, I lost my five dollar investment to a quaint little 5 cent slot machine dedicated to the dream of Rome....

Long before Morongo Casino ever existed, there was this little roadside stand that sold dates (it's in the middle of the desert for Christ's sake). After my mom's and my heathen venture into the gambling world, we went to Hadley's Farm (that once little roadside stand). There, we got some trail mix and dried pineapple chunks... again it's in the desert!

While at the check stand, I found this awesome postcard that looked like it had been sitting there since 1952..... Enjoy.

Here's a little Halloween collage I just finished today. Greg gave me a cute little Halloween "Trick or Treat" bag, where he drew the pumpkin, mummy and bats on it. I cut them out and colored them in with colored pencil. Also take a look at the background text on the right. It was a news article that I printed out from AOL news about the Dow dropping 800 points a few weeks ago. It fits in with the whole Halloween, scary theme.

Here is my latest design. I originally drew this design to be the lacy element framing my self-portrait for my closet painting. It did, however, take on a life of its own. I'm really quite happy with it. It's all drawn with pen and markers.

Earthquake

Welcome to my new blog, I will be posting pictures and stories of things that I find interesting from time to time. I'm starting off with something that happened a few weeks ago, (July 29, 2008) an Earthquake! The last time that I remembering feeling rumbling in the earth was the 1994 Northridge, Ca earthquake. Now that one was a doosie! The latest earthquake that was centered in Chino Hills, Ca. was interesting, but not as much as the Northridge one. It did, however, inspire this drawing. It is my first attempt at "writing." By no means am I a master or ever think I will be, but I had fun. This drawing was done with Prismacolor makers and Sharpies.
